History

In late 1995, Pastor Wardlow felt a renewed burden for God’s people and families. He and his wife Beverly had realized that they were regularly ministering to couples in their home regarding their broken relationships and marriages. God was abundantly blessing families and renewing marriages as a result of these couple-to-couple ministerial sessions. From this, the Lord impressed on Pastor Wardlow to begin a new ministry and gave him the name of Lampstand Family Ministries. The focus of the ministry began with and continues to be “Building Families, God’s Way”.

In September, 1996 they incorporated the church and the new ministry began leading Sunday evening worship and study time at the Lakewood Seward Park Community Center in Seattle. They eventually expanded to AM & PM Sunday worship services, adding weekly home-based Bible study.

The Lord blessed the people of Lampstand with continued growth in Seattle, but He opened doors in another direction and eventually led them to redirect the ministry to a small city south of Seattle in Puyallup in 2002. Since the move, God has fulfilled the vision of a multi-cultural and generationally-diverse membership. He then impressed the Wardlow’s to sell their home and move to the City of Puyallup and live in the city that the church resides in.

Years ago “Building Families, God’s Way" was chosen as Lampstand’s mission statement. It has been and continues to be our desire to get to know our Lord Jesus Christ better each day and to share the joy of that relationship with others as we worship Him together in community.
